I was reading Jeremiah 3 and noticed an exhortation God gives Judah that looked very familiar: God tells Judah to "circumcise themselves to the Lord and take away the foreskins of their hearts" (Jeremiah 3:4). I'm think that Paul may have had this verse in mind when he says in Romans 2 that "it is circumcision of the heart that matters."
